To the new and improved adoramehitabel.com. I hope you like it around here! Big thanks to Kim from Kim Lawler Creative who built my blog. Kim knew exactly what I envisioned & really supported me every step of the way. It feels like such a breath of fresh air having a new blog design that I’m proud of. I’m so excited to start posting again! I know it’s been a while, but this is the next chapter. Let me re-introduce myself and tell you what I have been up to and plans for the rest of the year.
My name is Adora Mehitabel, I am in my final year at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, studying a BA (Hons) Textiles for Fashion and Interiors, specialising in Printed Textiles. Not long until I’m graduated and show my final collection at New Designers in London this Summer!
My textiles work focuses on traditional handcrafted printing techniques and processes with designs created intricately with figurative hand drawn illustrations. The designs include whimsical fine details, elaborate flourishes layered amongst rustic textural qualities which evoke the emotional response of love and romance, full of character, passion and the timelessness of a past age. There is an element of magic that comes from within my work with experimental discoveries and outcomes. I create for the personal connection, a decorative enchanted, yet luxurious fabric the wearer will sentimentally love and cherish with its adornment. I imagine my patterns telling a story, having an element of a fairy tale underpinned by rich, vintage, warm earthy tones and dusky hues. I use bespoke hand dyeing colours and I mostly enjoy working with silks, velvets and satins.
I am most inspired by the artisanship and designs of past eras that have left such a rich history of sentiments, collected and treasured.
My vision for 2017 is to keep developing my textiles portfolio, craft skills and designs. And to continue blogging sharing my creativity, outfits, vintage finds, capturing memories and having many adventures. My dream vision is to contribute my designing and printing skills in a professional career path within the fashion textiles industry.
Time is Precious, I wish to spend everyday as though it’s my last! I’m such a big dreamer at heart and really motivated in achieving my passions and desires.
Recently I had the chance to have a personal shopper experience at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. It was truly amazing! Simply the best way to spend time at the airport. The Private shopper lounge was divine with its luxurious interior, beautiful fashion and yummy treats. I felt very much at home here and could have chatted and shopped all day with the lovely stylist Ruweyda Dool. Terminal 5 has so many fancy shops such as Chanel, Kurt Geiger, Burberry… After browsing and trying on many different garments, I knew this garment had to be in my wardrobe. I’m simply in love with lace and this silhouette is timeless.
