On the way back from our weekend away we stopped by this magical haven in the Wiltshire-Somerset border. Stourhead is a 18th century landscape garden and grand Palladian Mansion estate at the source of the River Stour which overlooks a large valley and the village of Stourton.
It is full of wondrous serene beauty and hidden gems including a quaint cottage, mystical grottos, Temple of Apollo and a very picturesque lake. We found this place to be very peaceful and enchanting, with not many people about, it felt as though it was just us and the birds. This place was just what we were looking for to spend our sunny afternoon enjoying such blissful English wonder making it truly made the most romantic summer walk. We are both very excited to visit this autumn, from the photographs Thomas and I have seen online it truly looks stunning with all the auburn colours reflecting onto the lake.
It is so lovely that we’re all able to enjoy these wonderful buildings through the National Trust. Being part of this charity that restores and preserves our rich English heritage is really exciting. It has to be one of the best memberships I have ever purchased and at just over £30.00 thats an absolute bargain. I don’t feel so guilty when spending money on yummy afternoon tea from the cafe knowing it all goes to a good cause. It is so wonderful that I am able to explore all these wonderful places with my best friend by my side and enjoy all these sentimental moments together. It was a lovely way to spend the last day of our weekend trip away in Cornwall before we hit the road back home. We are looking forward to visiting again very soon.
Lots of love, Adora xxx
